About BCB
Growing up on a farm in Williams County, Ohio, I got a taste of the good life! I gained an appreciation for how livestock and plant life enrich and sustain our livelihoods. However, during this amazing childhood, I suffered, and still do, today, many stomach and allergy ailments. I battled these issues for my entire childhood, and the problems became worse as I entered adulthood. I saw countless doctors and specialists: allergists, ENT's, gastroenterologists, and had hundreds of appointments with various primary care providers. No one could help me, most wouldn't even listen. They'd prescribe a new nasal spray, a new, harsher medicine, or offer another procedure...nothing worked.
I tested positive for almost every environmental allergy one can have (slight exaggeration). Finally, at age 33, a doctor had me do another food allergy test, but it was through a private company this time. Unlike the previous allergy tests through the hospitals, this food sensitivity test came back with a very long list of culprits. I began cutting these out of my diet and made notable, but not significant, improvements.
I was devastated to see that all of the beloved dairy products I enjoy were on the wretched list. It was suggested that I try goat milk, so I did........My life was changed FOREVER! Not only was goat milk delicious, I could drink it without repercussions! I finally started gaining weight for the first time in my life. I was certain I had found an elixir! I loved it so much I began researching goats.
After much research, I decided that Nigerian Dwarf Goats would be the best animal for our farm and immediately bought two ADGA registered does. We love them! They are sweethearts, and their milk is far better than any other milk I've ever tried. I began making everything I could with the milk: ice cream, yogurt, and eventually, soap!
Having grown up on a farm and having participated in 4H showing cattle and pigs, I wanted to find a way to make my farm profitable. I found some goat milk soap recipes online and in books and began giving the soap away to people I knew one Christmas. When friends and family began raving about the soap I gave them, I realized I had found a way to offer other people a healthy product they could enjoy from my beloved herd, which has grown to over seven head at the time I am writing this in 2025, and make my little homestead into a true farm.
In the future, I hope to offer more agricultural products from our little, less-than-two acre paradise, but I don't want to get ahead of myself. I do work full time in addition to this little adventure. Right now, my goal is to offer you high-quality, handcrafted goat milk soap at a reasonable price. I never want to offer the quality that my doctors gave me over the last several decades of my life in their care.
I hope you enjoy our soap and would love to hear what you think! I will be trying new recipes and scent profiles over the foreseeable future. I plan to cut down to a few of the favorites over time, so I can focus on quality and meeting demand. Simplicity is what I am going for. No colors, no patterns, no designs. Just simple ingredients, simple bars, simple fragrances, and sanitary packaging. So, let me know what you like! Thank you for visiting and for your business!
